Assignment Information: An Overview of
the Dissemination Project A
goal of the STEM Polar Connections Institute is to provide participants
with new
information and skills to be taught to other teachers and ultimately,
to other
students. Teachers
accepted into the program are
expected to adapt institute materials and/or
activities and commit to conducting professional development
workshops within
their districts or at a more regional venue.
For example, teachers could present a two-hour workshop
for teachers in
their department, for their district, in another district, at a local
collaborative educational institution, or at a regional conference or
convention. Some
time will be provided during the institute to develop preliminary plans
for
these dissemination projects. Teachers
will be asked to present these ideas on the last day of the institute
in a
poster session. (This part was cancelled due to time constrictions) These plans will then be refined after the
institute and
submitted in an email electronically to Holly Hargraves by October
1st. (holly @ hollyhargraves.com) (omit
spaces) It would really help if you could ensure that your
name is in the subject of the email. Dissemination
Proposals should include the following information After completing your dissemination
project, a portfolio should be snail-mailed
to Holly Hargraves (address below) by December 15th. This portfolio should include: the agenda,
invitations, announcements, PowerPoints, evaluation reports, conference
brochures, flyers, etc. that helped to advertise and present this
material. Please do not send these
materials electronically then, although we may ask for some electronic
materials later. If,
for some reason, you are not able to present the planned Polar
Connections material
by December 15th, please submit evidence that you have
secured a
place and time for your presentation, and provide Holly with the
materials you
have developed to prepare for that presentation. There
are limited funds available to support the dissemination efforts. Prior approval is required. A form will be
provided for this. Holly
