 Success Begins with US
 
 The Urban Scholars Program at the University of Massachusetts,
 Boston, is looking for instructors. 
 
 Instructor Responsibilities
 1.	Committed to program responsibilities from January 31 to
 	May 3, 2012
 2.	Weekly time commitment of 4 hours in the classroom on
 	Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:30 and 5:30 
 3.	Participate in 1 hour monthly teacher meetings
 4.	Develop and teach perspective course(s) to middle or high
 	school students 
 5.	Work with Assistant Director to align course content with
 	Core Curriculum and MA Frameworks
 6.	Submit basic weekly lesson plans which include objectives
 	and outline of learning activity
 7.	Complete evaluations of student progress several times
 	throughout the semester
 8.	 Complete final evaluations of students and a final
 	course summary

 Qualifications
 1.	Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
 2.	Teaching experience, preferably with urban youth. 
 3.	Demonstrated experience with a multi-racial, multi-ethnic
 	population. 
 4.	Demonstrated teaching philosophy and methods that
 	encourage the development of active and independent learning
 	habits. 
 5.	Experience teaching hands-on project based courses
 6.	Demonstrated ability to develop and implement curricula 
 
 HIGH SCHOOL
 Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-5:30PM (4 hrs. weekly commitment) 
 Salary:  $2160.00
 INSTRUCT HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL Courses
 Propose a Hands on Project Based Course			
 Math: 	Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Economics,
 Etc.
 
 MIDDLE SCHOOL
 Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-5:30PM (4 hrs. weekly commitment) 
 Salary:  $2160.00
 INSTRUCT MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL Courses
 Math or Science subject matter 
 Math: 	Pre-algebra, algebra 
 Science: Environmental, Biology, Zoology, Oceanography,
 Chemistry, Physics, Etc. 
 
 Application Process: 	
 Interested persons should submit: 
 1.	A Resume
 2.	Detailed Syllabus/Course Proposal for High School OR
 	Middle School level
 
 Course Proposal should include:
 Course title 				Main idea topic(s)
 Procedures
 Grade(s) level preferred 		Subject of course
 Prerequisites 
 Goals 					Week by week outline 
 Evaluation / assessment 		Possible materials 		
 Over overarching class project
