2009 SUMMER INSTITUTE

Patterns, Polygons, Proportionality, and Probability: 
Middle School (6-8) Mathematics Foundations for Special Populations

Audience: 
Special Education, ELL, and regular classroom teachers in Grades 6-8
Prerequisites: Foundational Knowledge

Meeting Dates and Times: 
July 6-9, 2009--8:45am to 3:45pm (Mon-Thur); LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED
Fall 2009--Two follow-up dates TBD

Location: 
Holyoke Community College, Kittredge Center, Room 203
303 Homestead Avenue, Holyoke, MA

This free Professional Development Institute builds upon the foundational
math content knowledge of regular education, special education, and ELL
teachers at the upper elementary, middle and high school level in the
context of standards-based instruction. The course is based on the Annenberg
Missing Link professional development curriculum and best practice in
teaching English Language Learners and special education students. Math
topics include patterns and functions, proportional reasoning, and sampling
and probability.

Priority will be given to teams of regular education, special education
and/or ELL teachers. 
67.5 PDPs are awarded on successful completion of all program activities 
3 graduate credits available at additional cost through Fitchburg State
College. 
All participants will receive a generous selection of professional learning
materials
