Physics First for Teachers: Summer Institute sponsored by American
International College, the Springfield Public Schools, and the Board of
Higher Education
* Two Week Course in preparation for Physics MTEL
* August 9-20, 2010
* $850 Stipends for Teachers; 1 MTEL registration fee;
* PDP's available, Lunches provided
* Paid Academic-Year Follow-up available
AIC and SPS are proud to present the third summer institute to prepare
teachers to take the physics MTEL, improve their core content knowledge
in physics, and to expand their physics teaching skills. The institute
will address all topics covered on the MTEL while allowing for group
problem solving, exploration and investigation into fundamental
concepts, and self-testing to identify strengths and weaknesses. During
the institute, teachers will be encouraged to identify and improve upon
their weak topics and to refine their stronger content areas.
Academic-year follow-up sessions will be available to those interested
in further study.
Application process: Teachers should send a resume and cover letter
including a narrative statement of how they intend to use the institute
materials in their classroom. The application may be submitted to:

Application Deadline: May 28, 2010
Preference will be given to teachers who will be teaching physics in the
2010-2011 school year, but all are encouraged to apply.
