COLLEGE MINERAL, ROCK, AND FOSSIL COLLECTION FOR SALE
Due to Science Department renovations, the majority of the Greenfield
Community College geology collection must be sold. This sale does not
include the hallway display specimens, but does include over 2000
specimens in 10 wooden cabinets with 12 drawers each. The wooden
cabinets are included at no charge in this sale. Most of these
specimens are from a donation by Amherst College about 40 years ago
and include a wide variety of minerals from historic regional and
world locations. Several other notable local collections are also
included. Most samples retain their specimen numbers and labels.
Evaluating the collection. The collection can be viewed by
appointment by contacting Geology Prof. Richard Little at
rdlittle2000@aol.com or (413) 527-8536; or Ron Smith at
smith@gcc.mass.edu or (413) 775-1453.
Making a bid. Sealed bids will be opened on June 15th at noon at the
office of Allen Davis, GCC Foundation, 270 Main St., Greenfield, MA
01301. Within seven days of notification, the highest bidder must
submit a certified check for the bid amount, made out to the
Greenfield Community College Foundation. The GCC Foundation reserves
the right to reject any and all bids.
Removing the specimens. All specimens need to be removed by July 7
unless other arrangements can be made with Greenfield Community
College. The wooden cabinets may be taken as well.
