Laboratory-Based Chemistry Content Institute

Target Audience: Grades 6 through 8, HS Physical Science Teachers and HS
Resource Staff
Summer Dates: August 10-13, Aug 16-19 (8-days)
Time: 8:30AM to 3:30PM
Call Back Dates: September 11 and December 4
Time: 9AM to 3PM
Location: Chelsea High School, Chelsea, MA (all highway driving from the
West of Boston)
Cost: Free (DESE supported)
PDPs: 67 PDPs
Credit: Optional 3 graduate credits (Endicott College)
Equipment: Go home with $200 worth of chemistry equipment

Investigations will involve the study of properties of matter; states of
matter and heat, energy, and phase transition; elements, compounds and
mixtures; the atomic model and periodicity; chemical formulas and
nomenclature; and bonding and chemical reactions.
