Directions to the UMass Amherst Campus Center Hotel
Via Air, Bus, Train
The closest airport is the Hartford-Springfield airport, about 50 miles south; this is a much better choice than Boston. If you rent a car, follow signs to I-91 north and follow directions below. Van service can be arranged by contacting Valley Transporter in advance at 800-872-8752; the cost is $45 one way. It is cheaper to rent a car in many cases. Peter Pan Bus Lines has frequent service from the New York City Port Authority and from Boston; the bus stops in downtown Amherst and on campus, a few blocks walk from the hotel. Amtrak has one train per day (the Vermonter) from New York City directly to Amherst; the station is a mile from campus. (As of March 2007, the Vermonter leaves Penn Station at 11:30 AM and reaches Amherst at 4:20 PM). There is more frequent train service to Springfield; Peter Pan provides connections to Amherst from the Springfield station.
If you let us know, we can have you picked up at the Amherst Amtrak station or the Peter Pan bus stop on campus.
