 GATEWAY to TECHNOLOGY and ENGINEERING
 School Districts Leading Change

 What is the Gateway Project?

 The Gateway Project guides educational
leaders through the process of implementing rigorous
technology/engineering based curriculum PreK-12 through the
development of a strategic Action Plan. This project engages
educators in designing and planning for implementation of STEM
programs that effectively integrate technology/engineering. The
success of this project lies not only in its belief that school
districts are unique, and as such, their approach to creating their
Action Plans must be centered around their districts needs and
resource availability, but also upon the sense of comradery and
 community built throughout the project.

 The Gateway Project is a
year-long endeavor in which teams participate in a three-day summer
institute, two follow-up meetings during the school year, an on-site
visit, and through a members only website. Other elements of the
model include online and physical resources designed to provide the
tools educators need to implement rigorous standards-based curriculum
and assessments K-12, annual symposium, and additional technical
support. Since its inception in 2005, the Gateway Project has served
approximately 600+ educational leaders, including lead teachers,
science and technology coordinators, principals, and other
administrators, representing 100+ school districts in Massachusetts.
At the Massachusetts STEM Summit (October, 2012) the Governors STEM
Advisory Council recognized the Gateway Project as a promising
practice in STEM education in the state of Massachusetts

In 2013, the project expanded to New Hampshire V that makes nearly
half a million students in New England with a connection to Gateway.
Gateway has also partnered with the Maine Mathematics and Science
Alliance (MMSA) and with the T-STEM Center -Transformation 2013 of
 Texas.
