Girls STEM Summit Statewide is a one-day summit designed by
Massachusetts non-profit, Jr.Tech, Inc. for girls in grades 8-12 to
explore STEM career paths. This important career event for girls will
be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Regis College in Weston, MA. The
event will run from 8:15 am - 4:15 pm.
As with the past six Girls STEM Summits, this program focuses on girls
in grades 8-12 who are interested in or curious about exploring
careers in STEM fields. Included in the day-long event will be a
keynote speech from a local female leader in a STEM field, career path
workshops led by local, female STEM professionals, exploration of high
school and college preparatory skills for STEM programs and degrees,
and the opportunity for girls to connect with other young women who
share their academic interests.
The key goals of the STEM Summit are to educate young women on various
STEM career paths through hands-on breakout sessions, to encourage
students to continue studying these disciplines throughout high school
in preparation for college degree programs, to inspire through
interaction with female professional role models working in STEM, and
to demonstrate that a STEM career is attainable.
Online registration and additional information is available through
the Jr.Tech, Inc., website at www.juniortech.org
The registration fee is $55 for the day-long event and includes
participation in hands-on career sessions, keynote speaker, lunch,
raffle prizes and giveaways. A limited number of scholarships are
available. Registration can be done individually or as a
school/organization group. Group that register between 5-20 students
may send up to two chaperones to the event at no cost (lunch/snacks
for chaperones is additional).
The Girls STEM Summit Statewide program is hosted by Jr.Tech, Inc.
and Lead Sponsor Biogen Idec Foundation. Additional sponsors include
National Grid and Raytheon. Facilities sponsor is Regis College.
Jr.Tech's mission is to engage 4-12 grade students in Science,
