GET YOUR STUDENTS OUTSIDE MAKING THE LOCAL CONNECTION TO CLIMATE
CHANGE USING REAL SCIENTIFIC PRACTICES
INTRO TO BUDS, LEAVES, AND GLOBAL WARMING; A Schoolyard Ecology Field
A one-day session at an internationally renowned Ecological
Research Center in Central Mass. is all you need to get started!
REAL SCIENCE- aligned with Mass. Science Frameworks and NGSS-detailed
links available on our website.
REAL SCIENTISTS-led by professional Ecologist, Dr. John O'Keefe
REAL ISSUES- Is the growing season for our trees getting longer as a
result of Climate Change?
Students will observe a variety of native trees in walking distance
of their schools and record and submit data related to the timing of
spring budburst and fall leaf drop to Harvard Forest in an effort to
track the impacts of global climate change on a local level.
When: Thurs. Aug. 20th from 9am-3pm
Where: Harvard Forest, Petersham Mass. (central Mass. off of rte. 2)
