STEM Ed Announcement: *FREE* STEM PD Opportunity for Middle School Teachers

 *FREE* STEM PD Opportunity for Middle School Teachers
 The STEM Education Center at WPI is excited to collaborate with the
 districts of Fitchburg, Gardner, Leominster, Narragansett, and
 Winchendon, and offer a science and math course that models STEM
 Integration. With funding from the Massachusetts Math and Science
 Partnership (MMSP) Program, we are able to offer the two courses
 described below. Course description attached.
 Course title: Energy & Matter
 Audience: 5-8 Grade Educators (math, science, tech/engineering, ELL,
 special ed, administrators)
 Date & Time: August 6-13, 2015; 8am - 4pm
 PDPs: 45
 Location: Worcester Polytechnic Institute
 Description: This course will cover science and engineering standards
 from the MA revised framework in earth science and physical science,
 as well as CC math standards focusing on energy and matter (the flow
 of conservation of kinetic, chemical, and thermal energy). The course
 is be taught by WPI faculty and staff members and will model
 integrated STEM teaching.  On the last day of the course participants
 will put together a draft of integrated STEM short unit, which they
 will then try in their classroom during the following year.
