This year's kickoff presentation is led by Professor Jagan Srinivasan
of WPI's Department of Biology and Biotechnology and a K-12 educator
who has taught in numerous high school science classrooms. Professor
Srinivasan's research is at the cross-section of genetics, neuroscience
and behavior. He will discuss how he uses data from his research on C.
elegans to model human brain development and behavior along with
genetic traits that affect them. The K-12 educator will then talk about
an innovative way to teach neuroscience in a high school biology
The STEM Education Center at WPI hosts the Teacher Lecture Series in
which WPI faculty will present their groundbreaking research and how
the principles of their research can be applied to a K-12 classroom.
Following the WPI faculty member, a K-12 educator will present engaging
classroom activities addressing similar topics that can be applicable
to multiple grade levels. This series seeks to bring K-12 educators
and university faculty members together around a common theme of
relevant topics to engage and inspire the next generation of
 STEM-minded individuals.
Please join us for a time of networking with colleagues, engaging in
intellectual thought, learning new content, and sharing ideas.
