[Stemed-l] Environmental Education workshops July 15 K-8 curriculum. July6 22 secondary curriculum

Project Learning Tree® provides award-winning curriculum and workshops, using trees, forests, and human enterprise to teach a variety of topics in a "hands-on; minds-on" manner.  Led by a trained workshop facilitator, participants actively engage with the material in a collegial atmosphere.


The K-8 curriculum is featured on July 15, 9am - 1pm, at Holyoke Range State Park, Amherst, MA.  Try out and discuss activities that help students understand tree structure and function, plant and animal interactions, and human decisions regarding the natural world.  Receive the curriculum guide and handouts.  Certificates of completion awarded; PDPs may be earned.  $20.  Please pre-register by July 8, Gini.Traub@state.ma.us  413/584-6788. 


Two secondary modules, ideal for middle and high-school, are showcased on July 22, 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., at DCR's Blue Hills Brookwood Community Farm, Canton, MA.  Forests of the World broadens students' perspective by providing information and activities analyzing forest types, cultural practices, and resource management globally.  Focus on Forests includes a forest health analysis based on the U.S. Forest Service's Forest Inventory Analysis protocol.  Receive the curriculum guide and handouts.  Certificates of Completion awarded; PDPs may be earned.  $23.  Please pre-register by July 15, Gini.Traub@state.ma.us  413/584-6788.
