Summary



Duties:


The SEI science teacher will teach chemistry, physics, and pre-physics
courses to English Language learners at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin
High
School.   The SEI science teacher will be knowledgeable about the
Massachusetts Science and Technology Curriculum Frameworks, English
language development pedagogy, S.I.O.P. model for planning and teaching
lessons, and have the ability to teach science labs.





The SEI science teacher will be skilled in effective instructional
strategies for teaching science, (chemistry and physics), and English
language learning and Sheltered Immersion methodology.  The candidate
will
be expected to collaborate with colleagues on curricular initiates taking
place in the district, and participate in the science fair.  The
candidate
must demonstrate high expectations for English language learners, be
effective in working with immigrant families, and create a learning
environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.






Qualification









Minimum Requirements:


Education:


Bachelorâ??s degree or Masterâ??s degree in Education from an accredited
college or university, with a concentration in science.


Experience:


At least 2 years experience teaching high school science and teaching
linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.





Certification:


Massachusetts licensure in Secondary Science grades 9-12 and/or be
certifiable in teaching English language learners.
